Continuously improve your pressing questions

I am an instance of wonder, a conduit for the universe’s awareness of itself. You are as well. This fact can be as trivial or as consequential as you decide to make it. For my part, it is the greatest privilege I can imagine. The art that I make is a reckoning with that privilege, and a celebration of the possibilities inherent in that reckoning.

I sell my art because I’d rather it be out in the world than stacked nearby. I don’t give it away because free stuff is generally treated like free stuff. A commercial transaction demonstrates an intention for safekeeping, which matters because any of my art that survives me constitutes the only incontrovertible afterlife I can expect. I don’t like to think about the paintings I could have made that I won’t have once I can’t any longer. Better just to keep bringing them into the world at a steady pace I can sustain.
